Runescape Construction Guide

Hi,

If you need a runescape construction guide for the new skill, then you’ve come to the right place :)

First of all you should sign-up to me FREE newsletter above to recieve tips on how to get better at runescape and make a ton of money at the same time. I’ve made hundreds of people millionnaires (That I know of).

This runescape construction guide is only the basics, there isn’t much to this skill really, most of it is explained in-game.

First things first.

Go to Falador (On a members world) and go to the building halfway between the east bank and the furnace. This building has a house icon over it on the mini map.

Go in here and talk to the estate agent. Buy a house from him for 1000 gold. He’ll also give you a book which explain pretty much everything you need to know.

Now you need normal logs. They are all over runescape so cut them where you feel is best. Personally, for normal logs, I think South of Seers is a good easy to reach and tree filled area. Go cut as many as you like. You’ll need about 160 of so to get your construction high enough to use oaks (The next level log up).

Now you have your logs, you need to make them into planks. To do this you will need a bit of cash i.e. 100 gold for every normal log you have. Now go to Varrock. Go the the lumber yard North East of Varrock. If you can’t find it, then follow the path north east of varrock, when it stops, just keep going north east.

There are probably massive crowds of people so it shouldn’t be easy to miss :)

Right click on the man in grey (The yellow dot on your minimap) and select buy planks. Click on normal planks, and he’ll turn your logs into planks for you.

Now you need some nails. You will probably need no more than 3 inventories full of iron to convert into nails to start with. Grab some iron bars and a hamer, then smith them into nails (Go the the little hut North of Falador).

Now take all of your nails, about 50k (That’s a bit overkill, but you never know :) ) and as much wood as you can carry to rimmington. This is South West of Falador. You’ll eventuallt come to a MASSIVE crowd of people. In the middle of this crowd, you’ll find a portal. Click on it and select “go to house in build mode”.

You’ll go to your house in build mode, which lets you (Suprise suprise) build stuff. First of all, right click on one of the doors and select build room, now pick the parlor (As you’ve already got a garden). Now click on all the white furniture (Just the chairs for now and you’re level isn’t high enough) and clich build and select from the options for what you want to build. It says what materials you’ll need and the level required.

At the moment you can only build normal wooden chairs, so build them for a while to get your level up.

From there it’s just wash rinse repeat for the rest of the rooms :)

Ranging Guide

Ranging Guide (Not yet complete)

The ranging skill is sometimes regarded as being not that useful. However, if we take the combat triangle into consideration, you’ll be glad you trained it if you come across a mage in the wilderness. It’s also much cheaper than magic in terms of ranged attack, but less versetile.

To begin with, you have to use a standard basic bow, nothing too fancy, but that’s the same for any skill. As you go up in levels you can use better bows and better arrows.

You equip your bows and arrows just like equiping a sword, just click on them in your inventory and they will appear on you.

Ranging is very useful when you want to attack someone or something without actually taking any damage yourself.

For example, the runescape npc’s aren’t very smart, they will try and take the quickest route to get to you. This means that they very often can get stuck behind obstacles while you shoot all your arrows at them, easily killing them without taking any damage. Whereas if you were a warrior, then you’d have to get your hands dirty while getting up close and personal, probably taking damage at the same time. Obviously you’ll take damage if you attack a ranging npc or a mage.

The downside is, you will lose arrows when you fire them. The upside is that you can go and pick most of them up again. The higher the metal that they are made out of, the more likely it is that you’ll be able to use them again.

There are 3 types of attacks:

  • Accurate
  • Rapid
  • Longrange

Experience is gained as follows. With accurate and rapid forms of attack, you will receive 4 ranging experience PLUS the damage you inflict, for each shot. Most people agree that the fastest way to level ranging is to use the rapid fire form of attack. Short bows fire faster than long bows, but are less accurate.

Bows:

Members can use any bow they like, providing they have the right ranging level, whereas free players can only wield up to maple bows.

Pic Bow Name Level To Wield Ranger Attack Value
Short bow Any 8
Long bow Any 8
Oak short bow 5 14
Oak long bow 5 14
Willow short bow 20 20

You can train ranging in the same place that you train magic as they are both distance attacks.

But incase you haven’t read my magic guide, the best places to train ranging are below.

For low levels go to the crafting guild (South East) of Falador and stand outside the cow pen and shoot arrows at the cow until you’re level 10.

Once you reach level 10, go inside the cow pen, and to the East, across the water you will see werewolves. Start training on those, since you’re inside the cowpen and there’s water seperating you from them, they can’t hurt you :)

Once you get to level 30 you should start training on lesser demons. And don’t worry, where you’ll train on them, they can’t get you :)

Go to the wizard’s tower (South of Draynor village), and go all the way to the top floor. Here you’ll find a lesser demon in a cage (Out of harm’s way), here you can easily shoot him with as many arrow’s as you’ve got. You’ll be able to train all the way up to level 60 in time (But you’ll probably get a little bored after that lol).

The downside to training on the lesser demon is that once you’ve shot your arrows at it, you can’t pick them up unless you use telekinetic grab, and it’s probably cheaper to actuyally buy more arrows. But if you’ve got more money than sense, tele grab away :)

hou ti’s range guid

We’ll start with beginer areas, and move on to professional areas.

Misthalin Farms: I believe most all players start training here, you know where we speak of. The area dubbed “Cow Killers Arena”. When you first start, this is probably the best area to begin ranging. You can attack behind the fence, protecting yourself. But don’t spend years here, soon as you can move else where, do so.
Barbarian Village: This would be my second stop, you can range inside the biggest building, hiding behind tables killing Barbarians.
King Lathas’s Training Arena: Once you’ve finished the Underground pass quest, King Lathas gives you access to his training area. A great place for rangers. Penned up orge’s can be found here, at level 43. You have access to pick up your arrows and your bones of course.
Waterfall Firegiants: Beneath Baxtorian Falls you can find different rooms with level 90+ fire giants inside. If you’re in the center room, you can hide behind the table. This place is great for two different reasons. 1.) Great range xp for your levels. 2.) For what the fire giants drop, of course first off the legendary Dragon Medium helmet, dragon spears and a small array of rune weapons, bars and other rune items.

You can buy yourself a short bow for 3gp each at Lowes Archery store in Varrock, you can also purchase bronze arrows for 6gp each there. This is where you want to start. If you’re a member, you should think about Fletching to make your own ranging weapons. This is cheaper, and faster to do than buying arrows.

In the world of RuneScape 2, it seems that short bows are best used with the Accurate setting, and Longbows are best used with Long Range setting. A lot of times you can find people that are selling various types of pre-made arrows for decent prices. Of course, if you’re just starting out then you don’t have access to a endless pocket.

Combat Guide

Combat Guide (Not yet complete)

Combat, one of the most celebrated of all skills in runescape, and arguably the most fun. Many quests require you to have a good combat level so it’s as important as any skill (Especially if you plan to player kill). So, on with the guide.

I’m not going to talk about weapons too much, just good places to train your combat.

Combat Training:

When you first start out you’ll probably want to kills chickens in Lumbridge for your first few levels, no further than levle 3 though.

After that, you should move onto the goblins behind Lumbridge castle until you’re about level 7.

From there, make you’re way to the crafting guild (South East of Falador ). Here you’ll find the cow pen. Kill these critters until you’re around about level 20.

From there, you’ll want to go just east of the cow pen onto a little peninsula, which is the home to about 10 were wolves. Kill these until you’re about level 40.

Once you reach this level, you should go to Falador castle (Just East of the West bank), here you’ll find level 43 white knights. Make sure you bring plenty of food with you as you’ll be spending some time here.

Once you reach around about level 60 it’s time to move onto the big kills, lesser demons. For these guys you’ll want to make sure you’ve got the best armour you can wear and a LOT of food with you. You’ll have to travel to Karamja volcano. Do down into the volcano and find the lesser demons. If you can teleport I suggest you bring some runes to teleport out of there, should you suddenly find yourself overwhelmed.

Magic is a great skill to have. You can use it to make money, kill people in the wilderness and kill npc’s and more. In the wilderness it’s practically a necessity. Forexample, if you start getting attacked and can’t run away, you can teleport away somewhere.

Here’s the runes that you can use:

Magic Training:

Now onto the interesting part, the magic training. This part is a bit brief at the moment, but I’ll expand it in time.

Go to the crafting guild (South East of Falador) and go into the cow pen.

DON’T attack the cows, because they will physically attack you and interrupt your magic training, not to mention taking some of your health away.

Instead, stand to the East of the inside of the pen. Across the water you will be able to see werewolfs (I think that’s what they’re called). And mage them up :)

Alternatively, you can go to the Wizard’s Tower (South of Draynor Village), and go to the top floor. There you will find a lesser demon in a cage. Again, just mage him big time, it can’t touch you, and it also has some nice drops (Most notably, rune medium helms).

Runecrafting Guide

Runecrafting is my personal favourite way to make a ton of gold in runescape. It’s not the most fun thing to do, but I find it the most effective. Once you can get to a decent level you can easily make over 100,000 gold per hour. But I’ll save the money making talk for the money making guides : )

As a free member, your money making abilities are fairly limited. You can still make very decent cash with runecrafting, but not quite as much as if you were a member.

As a free member you can only craft up to body runes. If I was only a free member, then I would only bother to craft air runes, they fetch a decent amount and they are the most commonly used in attack spells.

Runecrafting is great for newbies and veterans alike, because of the money making potential and because you don’t need and skills to get started. Just a pick axe at first and some patience.

Getting Started :

First of all, before you can begin runecrafting you need to complete the “Rune Mysteries Quest”. It’s easy and fairly quick to do.

The first thing you need to do is go mine some rune essence. This is what you will make your runes from. You can only mine rune essence in the runecrafting mining fields. To get to this mining field you need to be teleported by certain individuals. My personal favourite is Aubury in the Rune shop in South Varrok, just South of the East bank. Right click on him, then click “Teleport”

You’ll then be transported to the rune essence field. The field is in the shape of the letter “X” with a rune essence rock at each corner. Just make sure you have the pick axe in your inventory and click on the big rune essence rock. You will automatically mine the rune essence rock until your inventory is full.

Go over to the portal (Marked on your map with an arrow) and deposit your rune essence in the bank.

Wash, rinse, and repeat until you have enough essence. If you’re just starting out, I recommend that you mine at least 1,000 of your own essence, as you’ll save yourself a ton of money in the short term.

Once you’ve gotten enough rune essence for yourself you can take your rune essence and the relevant talisman over the an alter and craft the rune essence into runes.

If you’re feeling lazy (Or you’ve got too much money 😉 ) you could just buy the rune essence from someone else to save time. Once you get to a decent runecrafting level you’ll pretty much be in profit even if you massively overpay for the rune essence.

Talismans :

The following is a table containing all the talismans and how and where to get them.

Tiaras

They may not make you look too cool, but they help you increase your runecrafting potential, by freeing up a space in your inventory. Tiaras serve the same purpose as the talismans, except you wear them.

Once you’ve crafted a Tiara from a silver bar, the next step is to enchant it at the alter of your choice. You need to have the relevant talisman for this. Take your Tiara and your talisman, go to the alter, and combine them at the alter.

The talisman will disapear, but you now have a much more useful Tiara.

Below is a list of the Tiaras and the experience you get from crafting them.

Fishing Guide

In runescape, fishing is a great skill to have, and it doesn’t cost much to start, so your profits are almost 100%, not to mention it’s incredibly easy to do. Cast and catch, simple as that.

Not only can it help you make a ton of gold, but it helps you in other ways as well. For example when you catch fish, you must start a fire to cook the fish, then you cook the fish, then you can use those cooked fish to heal you when training your combat.

When your character is a higher level, you’ll need more and better food to keep your health up. So rather than having to buy food from other people you can catch it yourself, saving you a lot of gold.

Before you can start making big bucks, you need to be at least level 50 fishing, so I’ll give you a few hints and tips on how to level up your skills.

Lobsters sell for around 200 gold each and when you’re level 80 fishing you can fish for sharks and sell them for between 700-1000 gold each. As you can see, this is definately a very good trade to get involved in, it can make you a lot of money once you’ve leveled up your skills a little.

Basic Tools You Need To Get Started:

Here’s what equipment you can use and what you can catch with that equipment.

Small Fishing Net:

When you get started, the only thing that you’ll be able to catch is shrimp. For this, you’ll need the small fishing net. A great place to get started with fishing is South of Draynor Village bank. There’s a bank nearby (Obviously) where you can store all your shrimp and there’s plenty of trees around so that you can easily cook them all once you’re done.

You can buy the Small Fishing Net at the Port Sarim fishing shop for about 5 gold pieces. Once you get to level 15 fishing, you can also catch anchovies with the Small Fishing Net.

Fishing At Sea:

Once you’ve caught enough shrimp to level your fishing to level 5, you can then fish for Sardines. However this will cost more money, as you not only have to buy a fishing rod, but you must also buy bait. The Fishing Rod costs about 5 gold pieces and the bait cost varies with the amount that the shop has in stock. It’s normally about 3 gold pieces each, so if you want to make any kind of profit, you’ll have to sell each fish for more than 3 gold pieces each, more on making money with fishing in the making money guides : )

Once you get to level 10 fishing, you can also catch Herring with a Fishing Rod and bait. You can catch both Sardines and Herring from the sea, South of Draynor Village (The same place you where fishing for Shrimp).

To use your Fishing Rod and Bait, make sure you have them both in your inventory (Along with extra space for you to store your caught fish), then right click on a fishing spot and select “Bait”. Each time you catch a fish you’ll use one bait. Now you just have to wait until you’re inventory fills up : )

Lure Fishing/Fly Fishing:

Next, you can begin Lure Fishing (Some times called Fly Fishing, they are the same thing, but just different names). It’s pretty much the same as Bait Fishing, except you use Feathers instead of Bait, also there are certain fish that you can only catch by Lure Fishing/Fly Fishing.

You can only Fly/Lure fish in rivers, so you’ll have to choose a different fishing spot this time.

I suggest that you go Lure Fishing in the river East of the Barbarian Village, as there are 2 fishing spots and to the north in Edgeville, there is a bank where you can store all your fish. Also, Edgeville is very close to the Wilderness. So if you cook your caught fish here, you can sell them to the player killers (PKer’s) so they can restore some health.

To lure fish, right click on the fishing spot, then click “Lure”, you’ll use one feather each time you catch a fish.

Bait Fishing In Rivers:

Exactly the same as “Fishing At Sea” , except you do it in rivers instead. You wont catch Sardines or Herring in rivers, as they are sea fish. Instead you’ll catch Pike, you need to be level 25 Fishing before you can catch it though. You can use the same fishing spots as above.

Harpooning Tuna:

A new piece of equipment is now required, a Harpoon. Again you can get this from Port Sarim for about 5 gold pieces. Now you need to catch a boat from Port Sarim to Karamja. First you’ll be catching Tuna with the harpoon. Later, you’ll be able to Harpoon Swordfish.

Talk to one of the guys in blue here to get to the island of Karamja (Costs 30g)
You’ll arrive at the docks and you should harpoon here. There are quite a few fishing spots.

To Harpoon Tuna, you should go to the docks just outside Karamja port, North of the bananna field.

Since there isn’t a bank nearby, you have a few choices. You could (A) Catch the Tuna and then drop them, for continuous fishing experience, (B) Catch the Tuna then sell them uncooked to the general store, (C) Catch the Tuna, then cook them, then sell them to the general store, or (D) Catch the Tuna, go back to the main land, and stick them in your bank for later.

The trip to Karamja will cost you 30 gold pieces to get there and another 30 gold pieces to get back. When you get to the fishing spot, make sure you have the Harpoon in your inventory, right click on the fishing spot, then click on “Harpoon”.

Caging Lobsters:

While at Karamja (If your level is high enough) you can also cage lobsters with a “Lobster Pot”. You can get a “Lobster Pot” from the Port Sarim Fishing Shop for about 20 gold pieces. Lobsters are a great way of making money and you don’t need a very high level to begin catching them. With the Lobster Pot in your inventory, right click on the fishing spot then click on cage. You can catch Lobsters in the same place as where you were Harpooning Tuna.

Harpooning Swordfish:

Once you get to level 50 you can Harpoon Swordfish in the same place that you can Harpoon Tuna. You’ll probably catch more Tuna than Swordfish, so you can either drop them, or sell them.

Member’s Fishing Spots:

The following is a list and description of members only fishing spots.

Catherby:

The fish here are the same as in the fishing guild. There’s a bank very nearby so you can deposit anything you catch and get back to fishing quite quickly. There is also a fishing shop nearby that sells most of what you’ll need. It doesn’t selling Fly Fishing Rods or Feathers, but you’re fishing at an ocean, so that shouldn’t be a problem. At the Catherby Fishing Spots you can catch the following: Oysters, Caskets, Seaweed, Mackerel, Cod, Tuna, Lobsters, Bass and Sharks.

Fishing Platform:

Not a fantastic fishing spot as the nearest bank is in East Ardougne, so it’s a bit of a trek, therefore it’s not very efficient. Before you can start fishing here (If you really feel you must) you have to first complete the Sea Slug Quest. You can net bait harpoon and cage fish. The fish you can catch are Shrimps, Sardines, Anchovies, Herring, Tuna, Lobsters and Swordfish.

Fishing Guild:

Very similar to Catherby, except there’s a few more fishing spots. A nice little mining spot is nearby incase you get bored of just fishing.

Here’s a List of what you can catch, where you can catch them and more:
