Runescape Runecrafting Guide
Runecrafting is my personal favourite way to make a ton of gold in runescape. It's not the most fun thing to do, but I find it the most effective. Once you can get to a decent level you can easily make over 100,000 gold per hour. But I'll save the money making talk for the money making guides : )
As a free member, your money making abilities are fairly limited. You can still make very decent cash with runecrafting, but not quite as much as if you were a member.
As a free member you can only craft up to body runes. If I was only a free member, then I would only bother to craft air runes, they fetch a decent amount and they are the most commonly used in attack spells.
Runecrafting is great for newbies and veterans alike, because of the money making potential and because you don't need and skills to get started. Just a pick axe at first and some patience.
Getting Started :
First of all, before you can begin runecrafting you need to complete the "Rune Mysteries Quest". It's easy and fairly quick to do.
The first thing you need to do is go mine some rune essence. This is what you will make your runes from. You can only mine rune essence in the runecrafting mining fields. To get to this mining field you need to be teleported by certain individuals. My personal favourite is Aubury in the Rune shop in South Varrok, just South of the East bank. Right click on him, then click "Teleport"
You'll then be transported to the rune essence field. The field is in the shape of the letter "X" with a rune essence rock at each corner. Just make sure you have the pick axe in your inventory and click on the big rune essence rock. You will automatically mine the rune essence rock until your inventory is full.
Go over to the portal (Marked on your map with an arrow) and deposit your rune essence in the bank.
Wash, rinse, and repeat until you have enough essence. If you're just starting out, I recommend that you mine at least 1,000 of your own essence, as you'll save yourself a ton of money in the short term.
Once you've gotten enough rune essence for yourself you can take your rune essence and the relevant talisman over the an alter and craft the rune essence into runes.
If you're feeling lazy (Or you've got too much money ;) ) you could just buy the rune essence from someone else to save time. Once you get to a decent runecrafting level you'll pretty much be in profit even if you massively overpay for the rune essence.
Talismans :
The following is a table containing all the talismans and how and where to get them.

Tiaras
They may not make you look too cool, but they help you increase your runecrafting potential, by freeing up a space in your inventory. Tiaras serve the same purpose as the talismans, except you wear them.
Once you've crafted a Tiara from a silver bar, the next step is to enchant it at the alter of your choice. You need to have the relevant talisman for this. Take your Tiara and your talisman, go to the alter, and combine them at the alter.
The talisman will disapear, but you now have a much more useful Tiara.
Below is a list of the Tiaras and the experience you get from crafting them.

Runecrafting Alters:
Below is a list of all the runecrafting alters and an image to help you find them. If you have a Talisman, walk up to the mysterious ruins and use it on them. If you have a Tiara and you're wearing it, you can just click on the mysterious ruins. Make sure you have rune essence in you inventory first.
